Life Bio

Patricia Jennings, born Patricia Veronica Scully, and affectionately known as, Ms. Vanderbilt, was born on the 9th of January 1923 in Clarendon, Jamaica. She was the third of four children born to Patrick Scully and Irene Anderson (Scully). She grew up in Jamaica with her brothers, Allan and Hugh, and her sister, Mae.

Patricia was married to Leslie George Jennings in St. Andrew, Jamaica. She had 2 children, Joy Pamela, and Learie Ainsworth Patrick.

She migrated to the United States in the late 1960’s and became a US Citizen in January 1974 in New York City. She loved the name “Ann”, and changed her middle name to “Ann” during the naturalization process.
She worked at the St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City for many years throughout the 70’s and 80’s and cared for her family primarily as a single-mother. She was a devoted mother, aunt, and grandmother.

Patricia was always stylish and well put-together. Her hair and attire were always perfect. She was forever beautiful, fashionable, and young. As a testament to Ms. Vanderbilt’s forever young mindset, in her 60's, she picked up jobs as an extra in movies and participated in films such as Robocop 3, Love Potion # 9, and Fled. And remarkably, she graduated as a Certified Nurse Assistant in December 1991, a month shy of her 69th birthday. She later worked at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in New Jersey and retired in May 1995.

After retirement, she resided in South Florida and spent time with family in various US cities and in Jamaica as she desired. Patricia, a very independent and strong-willed woman, lived on her own up until she was 93 years old. She was an amazing lady.

Patricia was an Anglican Christian all her life. She went to be with her Lord on the 27th of May 2018 at 95 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, and her 3 siblings. She is survived by and will be forever missed by daughter Pam (Donovan); son Patrick (Alexandria); grandchildren Mark, Junior, Norman, Natasha, and Sasha; and great grandchildren Joshua, Amanda, Jasmine, Jordan, and Lluvia; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
